Whose Eyes Were Opened More By A President Obama?

Just having my coffee and watching a little morning Joe, and they were just talking about how this is a historic day because, among other things, the first black American has become President. They made the point that this changes how every black child or parent looks at what they can do in life now. I would agree on both points, but, I would also add that this changes the way white Americans think as much as black Americans think.

If we look at things only by the numbers, black Americans could not alone vote in a black candidate. So who is the one that didn't think a black American could be President? I would say, President Obama has changed the way white America thinks more than the way black America thinks. He may have made black America more proud and confident then they were a year ago or 10 years ago, but he isn't the first black that woke up one day and said I want to be President of The United States, and he certainly won't be the last. I guarantee, that there were as many white Americans, right or wrong, who woke up one Wednesday morning in November 2008 and said, he actually did it?

So let's forget the color of my skin, your skin and President Obama's skin, and let's worry about the colors that matters in America right now, red, white and blue! We need people of all colors, backgrounds and status to come together and fix the huge issues that are ahead for our Country.

Cat Like Reactions

Ok, my laundry list of things that I despise about President Bush, is long and still growing, but this is not one of them. He has been practicing for this moment for years, little did he know it would be shoes. His reaction time was pretty good and I am so glad he didn't get hit in the face with a shoe.

Why! Why! Why! Bill Richardson as Commerce Sec.? Maybe he will be good at it, but why put someone as Sec of State who disagrees with you on the most important foreign policy issue of our time, and then put someone with Richardson's experience in foreign policy and energy as Commerce Sec? Oh, and Richardson wasn't for the invasion of Iraq either. So very disappointed.

al Qaida #2 Just More Blah Blah Blah

This election must have been tough for the brain trust of al Qaida to spin. But, they have put their collective heads together and come out with one. They are really stretching here.

Al-Zawahiri can be heard saying, "In you and in Colin Powell, [Condoleezza] Rice and your likes, the words of Malcolm X (may Allah have mercy on him) concerning 'house Negroes' are confirmed."

You know your message is in trouble when you resort to "house negro".

It's Official, al Qaida Backs McCain

Why? Cause he will continue the failed policies of Bush:

"This requires presence of an impetuous American leader such as McCain, who pledged to continue the war till the last American soldier," the message said. "Then, al-Qaida will have to support McCain in the coming elections so that he continues the failing march of his predecessor, Bush."

I've Only Been Saying This For 5 Years

But it is nice to see that the MSM and not just a nobody like me finally has the courage to say it.

(NYT)Who knows how long it will be before the U.S. disengages in any significant way from Iraq. What you can take to the bank is that this country will not make any major advances in energy policy, in health coverage, in rebuilding its infrastructure, in improving its public schools or in curtailing runaway public and private debt until our open-ended commitment to this catastrophic multitrillion-dollar war comes to an end.

And let's not forget that Iraq has severely limited what our military could do in Afghanistan, where the real terrorists are. Not to mention our response capabilities, say if Russia or China decided to play USA and invade a country full of natural resources.

A little more planning and a little less gut reaction would have done this country well over the last 7 years.

Don't Let The Saudis Do It Again

So it was only a matter of time before the Saudis would do something to prevent the US from moving off oil.

(NYT) Saudi Arabia, the world’s biggest oil exporter, is planning to increase its output next month by about a half-million barrels a day

In the 70's, we had a chance to get off oil, but the output was increased and the priced dropped. And instead of us learning a lesson and getting off oil then, we went back to old habits. And now we are here again.

So now, we have a chance to do what we should have done then. Otherwise, we will be fighting wars in the Middle East forever. We will not be able to have real foreign policy in the Middle East because we will always be kissing the ass of the Saudis. We will face economic problems due to high energy prices. And we will never be truly safe and secure and in control of our own destiny!

Oil, Nation Building And Propaganda Are Why We Are In Iraq

So says McCain and former Bush loyalist Scott McClellan.

For 6 years, myself and others were ridiculed and called every name possible by those who were fooled by the Bush Administration(Cheney). But today, it is them that have to accept that what they were promoting were nothing more than lies and propaganda to reshape the oil rich Middle East into a more American friendly area. And by more American friendly, I mean more friendly to companies like Haliburton. I think what is clearer than ever is, that Dick Cheney has been running this country like a war for profit business over the last 7 years.

And unfortunately, revelations like this by McClellan will do nothing to quiet any theories that the WTC attack was an inside job or if nothing else, was not stopped because of what they wanted to do in Iraq and the Middle East.

And if you want to have 20/20 hindsight, take a gander at this.

Sorry Hillary, We Are In The General Election Now

When the President makes a fool of himself to bash Sen Obama in the Knesset, and Sen McCain does not even mention Sen Clinton anymore, it is time to gracefully bow out and fall inline.

And if there was any doubt that Sen Obama cold hold his own against Sen McCain in the general, round one to Obama. Not because of the video of Sen McFlippidy saying we will have to deal with Hamas, but because a sitting President on center stage, elevated you to a world leader. And let's not forget, Sen Obama is correct on this too.

To be fair, same store deaths are down from last February by a very large margin. With that said, civilian deaths were up 36 percent from the previous month.

More Military Failures During The Rumsfeld Era

Nothing like cutting corners on the protection of the troops. Especially when the proper equipment is said to cost more than "future" vehicles not even made yet. That's right, in a war that is already going to cost in the trillions, the military bureaucrats treated the safety of our troops

as a financial threat to programs aimed at developing lighter vehicles that were years from being fielded.

Or maybe it was a threat to future military contracts that bureaucrats in D.C. were worried about?

Bad Day For Democrcy In Pakistan

Not only was Benazir Bhutto assassinated, but earlier in the day, three were killed and several wounded at former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif's rally. While W has been dealing with oil rich nations, I mean terrorist states, Pakistan keeps slipping further and further away from democracy. I wonder what India is thinking right now?

There You Go Again Senator

It appears once again that Congress, more specifically the Senate, is taking on the tough issues of the day. The war in Iraq? Naahh. The housing crisis? Naahh. The fading Dollar? Yeah right. I know, it must be the border? One more guess.............nope, it's not China either. It's Thursday night football on the NFL Network.

I already got on my soapbox about this topic already, so I won't rehash. But it appears today that Sen. Leahy and Sen. Spector are sending a letter to the NFL to warn them about anti-trust laws. So I sent Sen. Leahy, or some poorly paid aide, an email.

Dear Mr. Senator

Good evening. I was just watching ESPNEWS and they mentioned that you and Sen. Spector were sending a letter to the NFL regarding games not being shown on free TV. Obviously my first thoughts were, I thought they were busier than this in Congress? Then I figured some website or group funneled angry and uninformed people your way. But that is when I realized that the cable companies, who apparently not only have a great working relationship with the White House and the NSA, also have a working relationship with you.

Before you point the finger at anyone, ask yourself why the cable companies charge their customers for the NFL Network while DirecTv offers it for free? Then ask yourself, does the contract with DirecTv and the NFL for Sunday Ticket have anything to do with the cable companies making the NFL Network a pay channel? And maybe, just maybe, if that many people were blocked by "their cable companies", the anti-trust letter should be sent to the cable companies instead.

I hope Congress, if they are really going to waste the taxpayers' time and money on this now, will also look at the cable companies role in this happening to millions of NFL fans.

Hello Hypocrisy, I Am A Republican!

Remember the outrage the Republicans had towards MoveOn.org and people who live in reality? If not, here are a few links to review(Here, Here and Here). Yet those same Republican Senators are now taking Gen. Sanchez to task over his latest comments about Iraq.

Gen Sanchez on Iraq - "a nightmare with no end in sight."

So are those same flag waving, apple pie eating and pick-up driving Republicans now saying that Gen. Sanchez has betrayed us? You decide.

Sen. Graham - "I'm astounded, really," South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham on CNN's "Late Edition" with Wolf Blitzer on Sunday.
He added that Sanchez's own record in Iraq is blemished: Abu Ghraib "got out of control under his watch. The war in general got out of control under his watch."

Sen McConnell - Sen. Mitch McConnell, a Republican from Kentucky, told ABC's "This Week" that Sanchez is simply wrong. "My definition of winning is a stable country and an ally in the war on terror," he said. "I think we're making significant progress toward that end."

And Sen McCain - "I wish that he had given us the benefit of that knowledge at the time," McCain told CBS's "Face the Nation." He said Sanchez should have spoken out at the time -- or resigned -- but "unfortunately, that doesn't happen very often."

Um, Sen. Graham sir? What about the Republican President and the Republican Congress that ruled for the first three years in Iraq? Don't they have some responsibility for Iraq being out of control? I understand why McCain flip-flops on his positions, he is getting buried in the Presidential race so he has to be on the "right" side of every issue, regardless of past statements. But Sen. Graham is just delusional. And let's not forget that Sen Graham and Sen McFlippidy were part of that trip to Iraq where it was compared to Indiana.

What about Sen McConnel's passionate speech on the Senate floor about MoveOn.org and the treasonous Democrats ? I say to Sen. McConnell and the other Republican traders, I give you an opportunity to restore you reputation!

Six Years Ago On Tuesday......

Me and my Father were coming off the 18th green and heading into the 19th hole for our free coke and hot dog, when we saw the TV. The buildings had just fallen and the dust cloud was encompassing Manhattan. My Father, who had grown up in Brooklyn, looked like someone who was just told his friend was killed. Six years later, and those who committed this act are still free and alive. Good thing Saddam and his sons are dead.
