Whose Eyes Were Opened More By A President Obama?

Just having my coffee and watching a little morning Joe, and they were just talking about how this is a historic day because, among other things, the first black American has become President. They made the point that this changes how every black child or parent looks at what they can do in life now. I would agree on both points, but, I would also add that this changes the way white Americans think as much as black Americans think.

If we look at things only by the numbers, black Americans could not alone vote in a black candidate. So who is the one that didn't think a black American could be President? I would say, President Obama has changed the way white America thinks more than the way black America thinks. He may have made black America more proud and confident then they were a year ago or 10 years ago, but he isn't the first black that woke up one day and said I want to be President of The United States, and he certainly won't be the last. I guarantee, that there were as many white Americans, right or wrong, who woke up one Wednesday morning in November 2008 and said, he actually did it?

So let's forget the color of my skin, your skin and President Obama's skin, and let's worry about the colors that matters in America right now, red, white and blue! We need people of all colors, backgrounds and status to come together and fix the huge issues that are ahead for our Country.

Bushed!

As I listen to the President, not Obama, but that guy that quacks a lot, he just said the increase in the job losses is a result of the credit and housing issue. Question, could it have anything to do with Bush economic policies? Nah, he won't take any responsibility for his actions on his way out, just like he has avoided any responsibility for any of the mess he created in the last eight years.

When I watch Bush, I realize how much I can't wait for someone else to be President!

Why Detroit Should NOT Get Bailed Out

I am not saying that something shouldn't be done, but when I see a commercial on TV, this very morning, for the new Hummer H3T(which uses a V8 instead of the inline 5 of the H3)I have to say, the what now? Yeah, I know the Volt is coming and it is the savior for GM, but if they are gonna keep selling and producing vehicles that won't sell, is that the fault of a poor economy? Or is it more poor planning from Detroit that you and I will have to pay for?

Since the only stupid idea, is the idea not said, how about a merger or two in the American motor sector, or if nothing else, a little consolidation of the brands? Maybe instead of having a street full of Chevy, Buick, GMC, Hummer, Saturn, Pontiac and Cadillac dealers, you have a GM dealer that has all the brands?

How about stopping the duplicate car making. For years, GM has made a car or truck, which they change a few exterior details, and called one a Chevy and one a Pontiac. Did we need the Cavalier and the Sunbird? Did the Camaro and Trans Am battle for the same buyer? Does every GM brand have to make an SUV that looks the same except for the brand logo on the hood or grill? Is there really a difference between Chevy trucks and GMC trucks? Basically I am saying, it should be a GM Impala or a GM Vue or a GM G6. And of course, they can always just make better vehicles and stop making cars with the philosophy that defects can be fixed under warranty.

When I was turning 16, I wanted a Camaro. Not because I wanted to buy US, but because it was a Chevy Camaro. If I was 16 now, the last place I would go to would be Chevy. GM, Ford and Chrysler need to find their way again, and maybe the Volt will do that GM, but something tells me not as much as people hope.

I'd Like To Be Bailed Out Too!

Dear Government,

I am writing you to ask that you bail me out like you have the financial institutions and maybe Detroit. I, like those businesses, have been foolish with my money and spent unwisely. I lived in the moment and did not plan for the future or develop the strategy to adapt to changing times and demands.

Sure, I could could probably fix it myself, but that would take too long. And in order for me to stay competitive in the human race, I ask for your help. And unlike some companies, I won't hold any, let alone two lavish "sales" meetings, while holding out my hand for billions in assistance. In fact, I am not looking for billions, $100,000 should get me on the road to recovery. But I would like to reserve the right to ask for more in case I am foolish again.

Remember The $400 Haircut The Right Went Nuts About?

Well, how about the regular ole small town hockey mom getting a $150,000 wardrobe? Anyone else in small town America able to afford a wardrobe like that or shop at these stores?

Over the month of September, more than $75,000 was spent in a single shopping spree at Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, and $50,000 in forays into Saks Fifth Avenue in New York and St Louis, on a procession of neat little waisted jackets, pencil skirts, killer boots and patent heels that have enabled Ms Palin to appear in at least one, and sometimes two or three, new outfits a day.

Just more of that regular person act that falls apart when the facts come out. Kind of like the son of a multi-millionaire former President who went to Yale and then was handed business after business and eventually the keys to the White House, while claiming he was a regular guy. And just like the businesses and sports teams he ruined, he ruined our Country. Wake up Republicans, and start to vote your interest and not your dreams of being Bill Gates!

Dare To Dream

That this country has more to offer than George Bush and Sarah Palin. I have grown tired of the 10 word phrases that appeal to people with the mentality of a toad. And today Palin, and I am sure tonight McCain, brought out the standard bearer for the right; "You can spend your money better than the government can". But if you look at the amount of debt Amreicans have, you have to wonder who they are talking to? How someone making $35-50k a year can actually be fooled into believing that tax cuts for them, while restoring tax rates to people who make a minimum of "7x" what they do is unfair, just is mind blowing to me.

Now that we have had eight years of Bush policies, the odds that someone currently making $35-50k ever making $250k a year without winning the lottery are as good as becoming a starting QB in the NFL. Yes, four more years of the same fiscal irresponsibility and a lack of curiosity to fix it, are just what America needs!

If McCain Is So Worried...

Then why is he doing interview after interview on TV and not on the phone or in Washington? The show that Sen McCain has put on this last week and a half is worthy of an award.

Act 1 - Sen McCain and Sen Graham lead the fight for deregulation of everything they could, including the financial institutions.

Act 2 - Sen McCain sits on the sidelines saying everything is okay and that the fundamentals of our economy are strong while supporting the Bush tax cuts and corporate welfare programs.

Act 3 - Sen McCain rides in on his white horse and claims he is the only one who can save us from those evil bastards who want to deregulate our country!

Do people really buy this crap from him? My friends, this man can't decide if it is night or day with the economy. To be fair, I don't think Sen Obama himself could solve this problem either. But he isn't out on TV claiming he, and ONLY he, can save the country. My friends, saying you are not being political or partisan and that you are putting the country first while doing nothing, is nothing more than a trick.

McCain Is Just Lying

Why Sen McCain keeps saying that Sen Obama will raise your taxes is beyond me. Sen Obama, and everyone who has looked at his plan, says that 95% of the American workers will not receive a raise in their taxes. In fact, the majority of Americans will see their taxes not change or go down. So if McCain keeps saying that Obama will raise your taxes, he is either lying or talking to who the Republicans really care about, the top 5% of income earners. People need to stop being fooled by this rhetoric and VOTE YOUR INTEREST NOT YOUR DREAMS!!!!

(NYT)Who knows how long it will be before the U.S. disengages in any significant way from Iraq. What you can take to the bank is that this country will not make any major advances in energy policy, in health coverage, in rebuilding its infrastructure, in improving its public schools or in curtailing runaway public and private debt until our open-ended commitment to this catastrophic multitrillion-dollar war comes to an end.

And let's not forget that Iraq has severely limited what our military could do in Afghanistan, where the real terrorists are. Not to mention our response capabilities, say if Russia or China decided to play USA and invade a country full of natural resources.

A little more planning and a little less gut reaction would have done this country well over the last 7 years.

Removal Of Gas Tax, "Dumbest thing I've heard...."

I could not agree more with Mayor Bloomberg and Senator Obama. Suspending the gas tax is counter productive in almost every way. It is almost as silly an idea as sending a $300 or $600 check to change ones fortunes.

Straight Talk Express? Or Going Senile?

In the Republican debate last night, Tim Russert asked Sen McCain about his statement where he said he doesn't understand the economy. Sen McCain quickly denied he said that and basically called Russert a liar for saying he did. Sen McCain, have you heard of Google? The days of saying something and then denying you said it are pretty much over. Case in point,

It's a good thing we borrowed $1 Trillion to play RISK in the Middle East. I'm sure that isn't going to hurt our economy at all. Which party is the fiscally responsible one?

Taxes High, But Fair

According to a recent Gallop poll, 53% of people polled think taxes are high. However, 60% of the people polled think taxes are fair. I'm no math expert, but isn't there a little contradiction in those results?
