al Qaida #2 Just More Blah Blah Blah

This election must have been tough for the brain trust of al Qaida to spin. But, they have put their collective heads together and come out with one. They are really stretching here.

Al-Zawahiri can be heard saying, "In you and in Colin Powell, [Condoleezza] Rice and your likes, the words of Malcolm X (may Allah have mercy on him) concerning 'house Negroes' are confirmed."
You know your message is in trouble when you resort to "house negro".

God's Will Is An Oil Pipeline and War!

Here is your Republican candidate for VP of The United States of America.

Part 1
Part 2

I know for some, they will giddy as a pig in shit to see another religious nut in government, but not all of us. Maybe if we get enough religious nuts in government, we can be just like those "extreme" countries we send our troops to in order to stop religious extremism.

Thought Of The Day

It is always interesting that those who complain the most about religious freedoms, are the first to condemn those with different beliefs. Where in the Constitution does it state that there is a religious test that people have to pass?

The British Are On To Something

Maybe the British aren't so bad after all. Obviously I am not married.

Camp Hillary Pulling Out All The Rovean Tricks

I really, really can't stomach anymore of the Clinton's and their ways of politics. Three more examples of how they will do ANYTHING to win, even act like the Republicans she blasted over the last 16 years. So instead of doing what is best for the party, she takes the Republican mindset and begins her own little religion and race swiftboating of Obama. Whether it was keeping the "Muslim" lie going, putting out an ad that makes Obama look a little blacker than he is or even Camp Hillary's supporters calling Obama Osama bin Laden on a campaign call.

While this might seem subtle to some, it clearly is an attmept for Camp Hillary to either win or take the whole party down with her. While some say, you have to vote for whom ever the nominee is, because McCain will continue the Iraq war for a 100 years. Hillary hasn't really voted differently then McCain, including her vote to approve the war in Iraq. And for me, Iraq has been the most important issue of this election followed by the economy and then everything else. So if I am left with two nominees who both gave approval to Bush to invade Iraq, I will have to find someone else to vote for. And if Hillary and the super delegates steal this election, I really hope Obama makes a third party run at it.

Faith du Jour

Last night I was watching Real Time with Bill Maher when I heard this stat

(NPR) The Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life surveyed tens of thousands of Americans and found that more than 40 percent will switch from the faith of their upbringing.
This is one of those stats that make you scratch your head about organized religion. I mean, come on, how can any rational person look at this and say there is one absolute religion. If you can't answer with 100 percent certainty that there is, then how can you believe in any religion? Oh that's right, it a "faith", no proof needed. People seem to be more loyal to NASCAR drivers and branded products than they are to their religion.

What would Jesus drive? Some NASCAR fans might say he drove a black Chevy with the number 3 on it.

What's The Return Policy For Florida?

Does the Government have a get-out clause with Florida? Something like, "If Florida passes laws that resemble the Taliban, they void their status as a member of the 21st Century. As such, Congress is entitled to rescind Florida's status as a member of the United States."

Hello Florida, I'm the 21st Century! Feel free to join the rest of us. While you're at it, see if Texas would like to join us too!

Doctor Falwell?

Enough is enough already with people gushing over Jerry Falwell. He was as much an agent of hate as the Taliban were. Here is a guy who said 9/11 and Katrina happened because "Americans" weren't moral enough. In essence agreeing with al Qaida and Bin Laden.

And this notion that he is a doctor is laughable.

Although he sometimes used the title "Doctor," Falwell held no earned doctorate. He held three honorary degrees: an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Tennessee Temple Theological Seminary [5],[verification needed] an honorary Doctor of Letters from California Graduate School of Theology (an unaccredited institution[6]), and an honorary Doctor of Laws from Central University in Seoul, South Korea (an unaccredited institution[7]).[3]
Central University in Seoul? Are you kidding me?

Over the last couple days, Christopher Hitchens has been doing the rounds talking about Falwell and promoting his book. In these two clips(here and here), Hitchens holds no punches on how he feels about Falwell and his followers.

Creation Or Evolution?

Christopher Hitchens was on FOX NEWS with Sean Hannity and they were discussing Hitchens' new book, "God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything". In part of the interview, the discussion goes to creation v. evolution. One of Hannity's points was that if you believe in evolution, you have to believe it created itself, that there was no starting point. He references God as that starting point for creation. But the question that I have is, who created God? If the problem some have with evolution is that there is no one who created energy, then are we to make the same assumption about creation because no one can explain where God came from?

If we use Ockham's razor theory and "agree" that the beginning of both creation and evolution leave people wanting more, what makes more sense? A mysterious man in the clouds made things the way they are? Or that the force of nature and energy created it?

Romney Raises More Than Rudy and McCain

In fact, he raised more money than everyone on both sides except for Clinton and possibly Obama, who has yet to announce his totals. Pretty impressive. I bet by the end of this week, something will come up about Romney's past. Because he "change" of heart on positions like abortion and gun control. So much so that a group called Massachusetts Republicans For Truth has created The Romney Report, a look back at Romney's voting record. Some might call it flip-flop for the White House.

So the Republican choices for president are a liberal Governor from Mass., a three time married Mayor of liberal New York, a twice married Senator from Arizona who is delusional on Iraq, an actor who who is one of my favorite movies of all-time(Hunt for Red October, "This thing is going to get out of hand.") or a former Speaker who impeached a president for lying about extra marital sex while cheating on his "former" wife. Good luck Christian anti-liberal right!

War In The Name of God

Go figure. Wars have been fought, and will continue to be fought, over religion. And using religion makes it easier to accept and justify death.

I always find it ironic how against abortion Republicans are, yet in favor of the death penalty and war. Is the Bible like the Magic 8 Ball? Let's see what today will be?

No Oval Office For Me

Apparently it is okay to do things that directly go against the teachings of religion, and the people will vote for you. You can even pretend you are religious and the people will vote for you. But if you are a good, honest, spiritual American, you are out of luck.

To be fair, I kind of understand how this matters to people. I just think we put too much credence in what people say they stand for instead of their actions.

What's With Texas?

Why does Texas produce so many anti-science people? Pick your topic and Texas will tell you why the science is wrong and the bible is right. But this one takes the cake, the Chairman of the Texas House Appropriations Committee, Warren Chisum, doesn't believe that the planets revolve around the Sun, but rather the Sun revolves around the Earth. That's right, Mr. Chisum thinks Copernicus was wrong. Where does it stop with these religious nuts?

Second Edwards Blogger Resigns

The Bill Donohue tantrum has now forced the second blogger from the Edwards campaign to resign. I don't know where to begin here. Part of me is just tired of Donohue and his attacks on anyone who doesn't agree with his fundamental Christian beliefs. Part of me is pissed that Edwards and his campaign showed no backbone, much in the way the Kerry/Edwards campaign was devoid of any backbone in 2004. While Edwards may have quieted the religious right, whose vote he will never win anyway, he might have again reminded people why he couldn't win the 2004 nomination.

Now, more than ever, we need a candidate who can stand up for themselves and us. One who can say enough is enough. One who doesn't fold to pressure, especially to people like Bill Donohue. One who stands for something. How can I go into a voting booth and pick a candidate who already has shown politics are more important than principle. Like I said before, short of walking on water, Edwards and the Democrats are never going to win the vote of the religious right.

Some food for thought. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2004 there were 217 million people of eligible voting age. Of them, only 122 million people voted.

NFL Stops Church From Having Super Bowl Party

The No Fun League has done it again. The Fall Creek Baptist Church in Indiana has been told by the No Fun League that it cannot have it's Super Bowl Bash. A Fed-X letter from the No Fun League told the church it could not host a party which it charged admission for a licensed No Fun League product. Fair enough. The church also agreed and said it would not charge admission. So all is good right? Nope! According to the No Fun League

(Indy Star) It objected to the church's plans to use a projector to show the game on what effectively was a 12-foot-wide screen. It said the law limits the church to one TV no bigger than 55 inches.
I'm no fan of organized religion, but even I am on their side in this situation. I hope the No Fun League has an "awakening" prior to Sunday.

Muslim Cabbies Create Controversy

Over the last five years, Muslim cab drivers at Minneapolis-St. Paul airport have been refusing passengers with alcohol or pets. According to them, it is against Islamic law to transport alcohol. The reason for not transporting pets, the saliva of dogs is seen as unclean. Officials are now considering suspending the cab drivers who refuse to transport people or animals.

"There are times where cab after cab will refuse service, and passengers can be waiting for 20 minutes," says Patrick Hogan, spokesman for the Metropolitan Airports Commission. "We've had complaints of people being asked if they had any alcoholic beverages in their luggage."
While these incidents are occurring less, it sill happening on an average of 14 times a month. While the cabbies want to make this a religious issue, the ACLU says;
"This is a public access issue," says Chuck Samuelson, of the American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota, "Bottom line is we are a secular society, and that's the way it is."
Surprisingly, and it's probably wrong to state it like that, but surprisingly Hassan Mouhamud, Imam of the AlTaqwa Mosque in St. Paul, and a scholar of Islamic Law says there is a way to work this out.
He says under the Hanafi School of Islamic law, if Muslims live in a country that does not enforce their religious law, they can defer to the written laws of that country.
I can't help but bring up this point, but if these cabbies adhere to a strict interpretation of Islamic law, then wouldn't transporting an infidel(non-Muslim) supersede the alcohol and dogs? This is sort of the Christian version of being against abortion, but for the death penalty and apocalyptic wars.

Crazy Parent Has Inconvenient Truth Banned

A parent in a school district in suburban Seattle has stopped the showing of Al Gore's Inconvenient Truth. I understand the idea of teaching all sides of something, but when your reasoning for not having your child watch the film is "judgment day", you lose all credibility.

"No you will not teach or show that propagandist Al Gore video to my child, blaming our nation -- the greatest nation ever to exist on this planet -- for global warming," Hardiman wrote in an e-mail to the Federal Way School Board. The 43-year-old computer consultant is an evangelical Christian who says he believes that a warming planet is "one of the signs" of Jesus Christ's imminent return for Judgment Day.
I guess his propaganda is okay. So what kind of balance is he looking for? How does he explain balance?
Before the board meeting started Tuesday night, several residents buttonholed Larson and asked him if there should be a "balanced" presentation of the Nazi Holocaust, because there are many who deny that it occurred.

"The Holocaust happened," Larson said. "We have evidence and photos. The difference between the Holocaust and the global warming is we don't have photos of what will happen 50 years from now."
Not for nothing, but where are the photos and evidence of his savior?

Evangelicals Take Up Global Warming Fight

To say I am shocked is an understatement. But a group of evangelicals has joined scientists in urging the government to get serious about global warming.

(Seattle Times) "God will judge us for destroying the creation. Therefore, we as evangelicals have a responsibility to be even more vigilant than others," Cizik said. "Science can be an ally in helping us understand what faith is telling us," he said. "We will not allow the creation to be degraded, destroyed by human folly."

Chivian said: "There is no such thing as a Republican or Democrat, a liberal or conservative, a religious or secular environment."
Hopefully now they can work on a consistent "pro"-life policy.

The Latest "I See Jesus"

And for the money quote.

(News 4) "Jesus don't just pop up like that. If you know the word of Jesus and you believe in Jesus, then there you go. He does exist," Brown said.
Got to love Floridians!
