Meet Paul Blart, Mall Cop
Not sure this movie will be any better than the trailer, but I am a big Kevin James fan, and if the movie is half as funny as the trailer, then it is worth it.
And if you can get a copy of his stand up, Sweat The Small Stuff, it is good watching. This clip below, might be one of the funniest bits I have seen. Granted, I may have been altering my mental state when I first saw this years ago, but it's still funny today.

Cat Like Reactions
Ok, my laundry list of things that I despise about President Bush, is long and still growing, but this is not one of them. He has been practicing for this moment for years, little did he know it would be shoes. His reaction time was pretty good and I am so glad he didn't get hit in the face with a shoe.

Why Can't They Show This Humility More?
Even McCain was ready for the Comedy Central dais. Nicely done to both candidates! Kind of funny that the McCain clip is from FOX and the Obama clip is from MSNBC.

National Anthem @ 1991 NHL ASG
If you have never been to a Chicago Blackhawks hockey game, you have never witnessed the National Anthem done the way it should be done at sporting events. None of that, "please remove your hats" or "stand and be quiet" crap. While this is the all-star game during the Gulf War, this is how it was every night at the Hawks games. I assume it is the same today, but the Chicago Stadium was as loud as they came. It wasn't called the Madhouse on Madison for nothing!

I'm Getting Old
Every once in awhile, there are moments when you can't hide your age. Whether it's a song, movie or TV reference, or a phrase you say that tells a little something about your age. Or maybe it's after running only 5 minutes of full court basketball? But then there are the times when you are talking about someone or something and someone younger says, "Who or what is that?". Sometimes it's just an uninformed person, or at least that is what I tell myself, but most of the time it's just that I am getting older.
Case in point was this morning on MSNBC. They were running a trailer for a new movie that is out.
Such a much simpler time that was.

I Was Watching Springer And A Republican Debate Broke Out
Whether it was the strong resemblance of some of those who submitted questions to members of a Springer audience, or the booing and cheering that accompanies Steve breaking up a fight between two trailer-trash relatives, the CNN/YouTube Republican debate last night was another example of the dumbing down of America. Only matched by the former President Bill Clinton now saying he was against the war from the beginning, but I digress.
I know it might seem like an insult to compare the debate to the Jerry Springer show, but what else could one think? Maybe it was the teen throwing a shotgun around or the teen cuddling up to the Confederate flag that made me realize it. All of which had a nice chorus of boos and cheers. Seriously though, the thing that always stuns me with Republicans, is their interpretations of the Bible.
The twisted logic happened when the candidates said they believe the Bible is the word of God, all except when God says, "Vengeance is mine" or "Vengeance belongeth unto me". And then the preacher man, Mike Huckabee, says that if it is the will of the people, we can exact vengeance ourselves. If you believe the Bible is the word of God, then how do you justify going against God's "own" words? And there is obviously no deterrent factor with the death penalty, because people keep killing people.
Right now, if you look at the candidates from both sides and imagine them as used car salesman, who would you buy a car from? Would it be the salesman who looks perfect? Their hair never moves and their attire and talking points are planned days in advance?(Romney and Edwards) Maybe you would you buy it from the one who can explain how every part in the car was assembled and how it works?(Kucinich and Paul) Maybe it is the long time person who just knows the car business, the good and the bad?(Richardson, Biden and Hunter) Or maybe it's the one who keeps telling you with every car, "This is the one for you"?(Clinton and Giuliani) No, for me it would be the one who helped me find the right car, answering your questions honestly, whether you like the answer or not. Right now, that is Sen. Obama on the left, and I would assume Gov Huckabee on the right.
It's a shame CNN made a mockery of what was a novel idea. Let Americans ask their questions right to the candidates. Instead, we get stereotypical questions from stereotypical Democrats and Republicans. Not to mention that CNN screwed up and didn't vet the their questions enough. I have no problem with a Democrat asking a question. To deny that would go against what a campaign is about. But to have a person who is part of someone's campaign, is wrong. Regardless of whether their point was valid or not.

Great SNL Skit
Remember when SNL used to be good with their topical skits? Well last night, they once again showed a bit of that magic.

Thailand Bans YouTube
After Google refused to remove a video that "insulted" the Thai King, the military-appointed(coup in some parts of the world) has blocked YouTube and other websites from the Thai people.
(IHT) The clip, crude and amateurish and lasting less than a minute, depicts the king with a pair of feet being placed over his head, a highly insulting gesture in Thailand.I'd be the first to take shots at President Bush and our government officials, and as bad as some things have become in the U.S., it could always be worse.
Insulting King Bhumibol Adulyadej is a serious criminal offense. Last week a Swiss man convicted of vandalizing images of the king and Queen Sirikit was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

NBC And News Corp To Start Video Service
The YouTube factor has forced the hand of the networks. Instead of dealing with YouTube, NBC and News Corp are going to start their own video service.
(Bloomberg) News Corp. and NBC Universal enlisted partners such as AOL, Yahoo! Inc. and Microsoft Corp., Google's biggest rivals, to help with the venture. The service will start in the U.S. summer and will feature full-length movies and television shows, the companies said today in an e-mailed statement.I just hope these networks can keep Microsoft from making it a Windows only, or IE, platform like the live streaming video on MSNBC.

Viacom Goes With Joost
Viacom, who recently requested that YouTube remove 100,000 videos from it's files, has struck a deal to use start up Joost to share their content. Unlike YouTube and the other video sites, Joost is an application you run on your computer. Joost is the creation of the same people who created Kaaza and Skype. While shows like The Daily Show and The Colbert Report won't be available at first, it seems like a good bet that they will eventually.
You can sign up on there site to beta test Joost, however there is probably a huge backup now that the deal has been announced.
