Why! Why! Why! Bill Richardson as Commerce Sec.? Maybe he will be good at it, but why put someone as Sec of State who disagrees with you on the most important foreign policy issue of our time, and then put someone with Richardson's experience in foreign policy and energy as Commerce Sec? Oh, and Richardson wasn't for the invasion of Iraq either. So very disappointed.

The Cincinnati based banana company has been fined $25 million for ties to terrorists. Apparently Chiquita was paying terrorists and militants for protection in Colombia. Who knew the banana business was so dangerous? Although, any business in Colombia is dangerous.

Are We Too Late For Alternative Fuels?

Not to save the planet, but to save America? I admit, after 9/11 I looked only to the Middle East when talking about our dependence on oil. If we found an alternative, we could get out of the Middle East and let Israel and them sort it out for themselves, ya know, like how God would have wanted it. If they only took time to see how alike they are. Like I was saying, if only we could get out of the Middle East.

However, it appears clearer and clearer that our real enemy is only beginning to show their heads, at least to me and to the Council on Foreign Relations.

"The lack of sustained attention to energy issues is undercutting U.S. foreign policy and U.S. national security," according to the new report from the Council on Foreign Relations, entitled "National Security Consequences of U.S. Oil Dependency."

Soaring global oil prices and U.S. continued dependence on huge foreign oil imports has given oil producing nations like Russia, Iran and Venezuela the financial clout and the confidence to defy U.S. wishes on a wide range of issues, the report said.

"Because of their oil wealth, these and other producer countries are free to ignore U.S. policies and to pursue interests inimical to our national security," the report said.

7-11 has decided to drop Citgo from it's U.S. stores in favor of starting their own brand. While it's not clear whether this is political or practical business, the timing seems to be politically motivated. It will certainly bring in business from those who want to stick it to Citgo. None the less, the partnership is over.

Hugo Chavez: The Great Uniter!

Was anyone really surprised with what Hugo Chavez said yesterday? It's nothing he hasn't said at other press conferences. Did we really think that the leader who met with Russia, North Korea, Iran and Cuba to buy weapons and create an anti-alliance against the U.S. would praise President Bush? I'm in no way supporting or agreeing with his comments about President Bush being the Devil, but how much more coverage are we going to give him?

With that said, it was nice to see bipartisan support for the President. It's one thing to do it from Caracas, or for opponents of the President in the U.S. to get on him. Two of the biggest opponents of the President, Rep. Rangel and Minority Leader Pelosi, both joined in support of the President and the denouncing of Chavez.

(CNN)"You don't come into my country; you don't come into my congressional district and you don't condemn my president," Rep. Charles Rangel, D-New York, scolded Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

"If there's any criticism of President Bush, it should be restricted to Americans, whether they voted for him or not," Rangel said at a Washington news conference.

"I just want to make it abundantly clear to Hugo Chavez or any other president: Don't come to the United States and think, because we have problems with our president, that any foreigner can come to our country and not think that Americans do not feel offended when you offend our chief of state," Rangel said.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-California, was blunt in her criticism of the Venezuelan leader. "He is an everyday thug," she said.

"Hugo Chavez abused the privilege that he had speaking at the United Nations," Pelosi said. "In doing so, in the manner which he characterized the president, he demeaned himself and demeaned Venezuela."

It's time for Chavez to get out of The United States! This way we can get back to election politics and bashing each other!
