Is This Thing On?

Has it really been that long since I posted anything? I guess between more of the same nonsense in the Presidential race, baseball not really doing anything for me yet, the occasional warm days and work just getting busy, I just haven't had much desire to blog. It also might have something to do with my new car and pretending I am on the Autobahn. Damn those Germans know how to make a car!

With the primaries picking back up, I am sure I will find something that annoys me enough to post. Hmm, wait. What was that? Bill Clinton just said Hillary only talked about Bosnia once? WTF is he talking about? She said it like 4 times over the last year and didn't apologize until the video of her and Chelsea walking and smiling as they walked off the plane surfaced. Can't someone just gag him already? Just let him go play with some intern until this thing is over.

Blog Carnac

Obama/Richardson................What is the Democratic ticket in 2008? After today's endorsement, I look pretty good grabbing this blog last year. Looks like I will need to spruce it up little.

Conveniently Silent

Where are all the "Patriotic" right wingers now? They are always quick to point out how Democrats are against the troops(Kerry and Obama), yet when Sen. McCain says the troops are being wasted and Walter Reed Hospital is exposed, silence. It really says something about them.

Just like I didn't have a problem with what Kerry or Obama said, I don't have a problem with what McCain said. These lives are being wasted for an illegal war. Yet those who questioned Obama, are not even saying a peep about Saint McCain. They would prefer to distract their readers with things about digg and CAIR.

Egyptian Blogger Jailed

Good thing we don't jail bloggers for insults, we just get nation wide campaigns to get them fired or attack them.

Changes Complete, For Now At Least

I did a little re-arranging over the last few days(we'll see how long this one lasts). I tried to eliminate some of the stuff that slows loading, Haloscan excluded. If you use Firefox, and you should, you can use the extension NoScript to eliminate all unwanted javascript here and elsewhere. Plus it can protect you against some of the new threats. If you do use NoScript, I ask if you can allow either Feedburner and/or Sitemeter so I can get whatever stats possible. Thanks in advance.

I Got A Big Mouth!

Just a couple weeks ago I was telling someone who was sick how I rarely get sick. Well, you guessed it, today is the third day of a severe head cold. Go figure. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. After all, tomorrow is a two-hour 24.

Huffington Post To Become MSM

Arianna Huffington has announced the hiring of a former Newsweek journalist to head up original political content for the Huffington Post.

(NY Times)Ms. Huffington said Ms. Henneberger would hire a number of other journalists to begin producing original content, “with attitude.”

“Now is the time to generate our own original content,” Ms. Huffington said. “It was always our intention, once we had the money, to hire people to do reporting.”
Kind of ironic how the anti-MSM becomes the MSM?!?! And so begins the clone wars!

It Doesn't Matter?

While I agree with his over all view of the viability of a third party, I just have to wonder if the Republicans were running away with this, would Glenn still feel the same? And if the Republicans pull this out, will he still be so reflective?

Video Of Today's Election

One of the guys from Boing Boing have started collecting videos from around the country regarding today's elections. Some are funny and some show how screwed up our voting system is. None the less, it's good watching.

Typical Response From Right

Yesterday's news that a government website contained a how-to on building a nuke is getting the typical right wing coverage. Instead of debating how this could happen or who the hell was responsible for doing this, the right has made light of it.

Right Wing Nut House - The New York Times, a news organ that has on many occasions revealed the existence of some of the most classified intelligence programs the government uses to protect American citizens, in violation of the law, of common sense, and (my own opinion) of their patriotic duty during a time of war, now implicitly criticizes the Bush Administration for (wait for it)...releasing classified information!
How about the always concerned Malkin
Michelle Malkin -“The NYTimes blabbermouths are accusing the Bush administration of being careless with national security data?
Ouch. Stop. Sides. Splitting.
And the fellas at LGF
Apparently, in 1991 Saddam Hussein was about a year away from a nuclear bomb, and possessed detailed plans to build one. The Times wouldn’t be publishing this if they thought it would help the GOP, and the angle here is that the Bush administration was sloppy with intelligence secrets, since some of the plans were made publicly available on the Iraq documents web site.

But it’s a weak last-minute play, that could just as easily be interpreted as a positive story for the Bush administration since it lends credence to fears of Iraqi WMD.
Ah yes, the simplistic thought process that got us into this situation shows it's ugly face again. While I enjoy reading RWNH, I sort of expected more from him.

First, the article refers to 1991 when talking about any Iraqi WMD program, which no one disputed. It was the "2002/2003" WMD program that was in dispute. Might I also add that no weapons were found in Iraq.

Second, where is the outrage that this info could possibly help Iran, North Korea or anyone else who wanted that technology? Imagine if a dirty bomb went off in NYC, Chicago or L.A. and we found out that the terrorists got the info off our government's website. Would they blame the NY Times and liberals?

Third, if the the right can't tell the difference between a telephone or banking program being exposed, as if no terrorist could have assumed that was going on, and directions on how to build a nuke, then they have no credibility in my book and no longer deserve to be the party in power.

The blind allegiance of the right has put this country in more danger than anything else they have done! Shall we talk about IRONY?

It's October Surprise(s) This Year

I'm almost beginning to wonder if Republicans are trying to clean house of the neo-con xenophobic element of their party. The latest October surprise, for some maybe, comes in the form of a book from the #2 guy at the Office of Faith Based Initiatives, which Countdown and Olbermann go over.

A Preview of 2008? I Hope Not!

If Vegas had odds on the 2008 Presidential race(which they might and I will find out in two weeks) the two favorites would be Senators McCain and Clinton. And in the wake of North Korea's apparently failed nuclear test, the two have decided to give a preview of what the summer of 2008 could be like.

While the Foley issue is a serious one, the attempted test by North Korea puts some things in perspective, I hope. Yet today, the ugly head of partisan politics reared itself again.Don't get me wrong, I am all for partisan politics in most cases. But this seems to be an issue that the top Democrats and Republicans, The White House and the military leaders should sit down in a room and figure out what should be done.

(CBS)I would remind Senator (Hillary) Clinton and other Democrats critical of the Bush administration's policies that the framework agreement her husband's administration negotiated was a failure," McCain said at a news conference in Southfield, Mich., that followed a campaign appearance for GOP Senate candidate Mike Bouchard.

"The Koreans received millions and millions in energy assistance. They've diverted millions of dollars of food assistance to their military," he added. "We had a carrot-and-no-sticks policy that only encouraged bad behavior."(Video via TP)
Which obviously required a response from Sen Clinton.
(Hotline)A missile shield alone cannot protect us from the Bush-Cheney Administration’s incompetence in their approach to Iraq, Iran and North Korea, and it is unfortunate that Republicans such as John McCain continue to blindly defend their failed policies for partisan gain rather than exercise true leadership. Five years after 9/11, President Bush has allowed the ‘Axis of Evil’ to spin out of control. Our Iraq policy is a failure. Iran is going nuclear and North Korea is testing nuclear weapons. President Bush’s foreign policy failures have made America less safe, not more so, and it is time for a new direction. Senator Clinton supports a National Missile Defense System that has been tested and actually works. She supports an approach that protects us from the threat of North Korean nuclear weapons, as the Clinton Administration successfully did for eight years.
So the two favorites for President, as of today, are going to continue the partisan politics of the last 14 years. The last 14 years that have helped bring us the problems we face today. Neither of the two gave any plan. McCain played the Clinton card and Clinton played the Bush card. Meanwhile North Korea is probably figuring out what went wrong in this test and regrouping for another. And it's not just them. The blogs and the MSM are feeding into this by doing the same thing. The only thing I seem to be hearing from our 'elected' officials, blogs and the MSM are excuses.

I understand that we are not the only ones who should be involved in getting North Korea to stop, but how can we, in the eyes of the world, lead when OUR leaders can't even lead at home? Wouldn't it be great if we could 'elect' a whole new congress?

Enough With The 'Photogates'

Some blogs on the right are trying to create scandals to distract from Foley, North Korea and Iraq. Add this to the Malkin/Wonkette photo issue and the right has a case, right? I think not. So in the manner seen on the right, I will play their game.

Does anyone remember Howard Kaloogian? (here and here)

And let's not leave out our Commander in Chief.

New Template

As you can see I made the switch to the Beta version. You might see the old one if things don't change. It looks like haloscan isn't working just yet. So old comments are gone. Feed could be an interesting thing.

UPDATE: Ok, everything seems to be in order. I hope. Haloscan is back up and working thanks to Logical Philosopher. The feeds all seem to work. If the text is too small or the colors are bad, please let me know. I have also used one of the new features in the beta version to add some headlines on the left side. I added three for now.

ABC News: Foley Molested By Priest And Is Gay

This is now scrolling across ABC's website on ABC. Puts a whole new twist on my last post about Dobson. Now he has alcohol and a priest for him to blame. How can anyone be mad at him now? IRAQ, TORTURE, SPYING AND WORSE OFF TODAY THEN 2003. Stay on message Dems!

God's Soldier Speaks

What would you expect from the group that allowed priests who molested children to stay on the job, to say about Mr. Foley? It's societies fault. That damn internet and those crazy tubes!

"This is yet another sad example of our society's oversexualization, especially as it affects the Internet, and the damage it does to all who get caught in its grasp."
And the left are the appeasers?!? Read some other comments from conservatives.
