Whose Eyes Were Opened More By A President Obama?

Just having my coffee and watching a little morning Joe, and they were just talking about how this is a historic day because, among other things, the first black American has become President. They made the point that this changes how every black child or parent looks at what they can do in life now. I would agree on both points, but, I would also add that this changes the way white Americans think as much as black Americans think.

If we look at things only by the numbers, black Americans could not alone vote in a black candidate. So who is the one that didn't think a black American could be President? I would say, President Obama has changed the way white America thinks more than the way black America thinks. He may have made black America more proud and confident then they were a year ago or 10 years ago, but he isn't the first black that woke up one day and said I want to be President of The United States, and he certainly won't be the last. I guarantee, that there were as many white Americans, right or wrong, who woke up one Wednesday morning in November 2008 and said, he actually did it?

So let's forget the color of my skin, your skin and President Obama's skin, and let's worry about the colors that matters in America right now, red, white and blue! We need people of all colors, backgrounds and status to come together and fix the huge issues that are ahead for our Country.

Your Blowing It Obama

Why! Why! Why! Bill Richardson as Commerce Sec.? Maybe he will be good at it, but why put someone as Sec of State who disagrees with you on the most important foreign policy issue of our time, and then put someone with Richardson's experience in foreign policy and energy as Commerce Sec? Oh, and Richardson wasn't for the invasion of Iraq either. So very disappointed.

For Republicans Who Have A Problem With Terrorist Connections...

You already voted three times for a family with ties to terrorist #1, Bin Laden. How's that glass house?

Random Energy Thoughts

Just saw $4.35 for regular on the way home tonight.

While both Presidential candidates are blah blah blahing it over whose energy plan is better, the sitting President is still doing nothing.

All this nonsense about off-shore drilling and the continued ANWR "exploration" conversation will not change our dependence on foreign oil and will barely change the price of gasoline.

Is anyone going to call McCain out about his summer gas tax relief and the fact the summer is almost half over? Talk is cheap Senator.

After hearing that Toyota is putting solar panels on the Prius, why can't anyone design a small wind turbine the size of a golf ball that can be placed in several locations on automobiles to charge the batteries while you drive too? Maybe that 100 mile battery can be stretched to 150 to 200 miles with on board charging.

And finally, if a soybean can make everything it can, why can't it make ethanol? And why are we not reviving the sugar industry in this country and making sugar ethanol? It isn't the long term answer, but it is better than corn ethanol.

I've Only Been Saying This For 5 Years

But it is nice to see that the MSM and not just a nobody like me finally has the courage to say it.

(NYT)Who knows how long it will be before the U.S. disengages in any significant way from Iraq. What you can take to the bank is that this country will not make any major advances in energy policy, in health coverage, in rebuilding its infrastructure, in improving its public schools or in curtailing runaway public and private debt until our open-ended commitment to this catastrophic multitrillion-dollar war comes to an end.
And let's not forget that Iraq has severely limited what our military could do in Afghanistan, where the real terrorists are. Not to mention our response capabilities, say if Russia or China decided to play USA and invade a country full of natural resources.

A little more planning and a little less gut reaction would have done this country well over the last 7 years.

SCOTUS Folds To Big Oil

I guess big oil has friends on The Supreme Court too. While Justice Alito was recused cause he owns stock in Exxon, it appears that others on the court are as unwilling to stand up to big oil as the Congress is. I am so glad our government is by the people for the people.

The Energy Presidency

In eight years, Bush and his Administration have manged to take oil to $140 a barrel, gas at $4 a gallon nationwide($4.15-$4.20 here in the suburbs) and electric companies want a 29% hike in energy costs(just in time for the summer air conditioning). No wonder Bush couldn't make any of his businesses work and why he was always bailed out, usually by some rich Saudi who was in bed with daddy.

The last thing we need is four more years of the kind of policies that have put us here!

Don't Let The Saudis Do It Again

So it was only a matter of time before the Saudis would do something to prevent the US from moving off oil.

(NYT) Saudi Arabia, the world’s biggest oil exporter, is planning to increase its output next month by about a half-million barrels a day
In the 70's, we had a chance to get off oil, but the output was increased and the priced dropped. And instead of us learning a lesson and getting off oil then, we went back to old habits. And now we are here again.

So now, we have a chance to do what we should have done then. Otherwise, we will be fighting wars in the Middle East forever. We will not be able to have real foreign policy in the Middle East because we will always be kissing the ass of the Saudis. We will face economic problems due to high energy prices. And we will never be truly safe and secure and in control of our own destiny!

Oil, Nation Building And Propaganda Are Why We Are In Iraq

So says McCain and former Bush loyalist Scott McClellan.

For 6 years, myself and others were ridiculed and called every name possible by those who were fooled by the Bush Administration(Cheney). But today, it is them that have to accept that what they were promoting were nothing more than lies and propaganda to reshape the oil rich Middle East into a more American friendly area. And by more American friendly, I mean more friendly to companies like Haliburton. I think what is clearer than ever is, that Dick Cheney has been running this country like a war for profit business over the last 7 years.

And unfortunately, revelations like this by McClellan will do nothing to quiet any theories that the WTC attack was an inside job or if nothing else, was not stopped because of what they wanted to do in Iraq and the Middle East.

And if you want to have 20/20 hindsight, take a gander at this.

It Keeps Going And Going

I Remember When Gas Was Just $4

Already paying $4.22 for premium. Good thing I am averaging 26 mpg now.

Thursday, May 8

$4.07

Thanks to all the Presidents since the 70's for not having any vision or backbone to get us off oil. I bet GM and Ford are wishing they had the vision to see this. It continues to amaze me how poor companies plan and forecast for the future. I understand the demand is finally there, but they should have been researching and developing so that when this crisis hit, the answer wasn't just smaller cars, hybrids and corn based ethanol. Not too mention the lack of true solar, wind and water energy plans.

But let's suspend an $.18 cent a gallon tax to make Americans stop thinking about it so the energy industry can continue raking in the profits form oil. We do it to ourselves!

Kudos To Senator McCain!

(ABC) "My friends, I will have an energy policy that we will be talking about, which will eliminate our dependence on oil from the Middle East,"McCain told a crowd of 300 at a Jewish Community Center in Denver.

"That will prevent us from having ever to send our young men and women into conflict again in the Middle East."
Bravo Mr. Senator, bravo!! I have always said it is about oil, not terrorism.

Rev. Wright....YAWN!!!

Oil still is above $115.

The Taliban attempted to assassinate Karzai followed by suicide bombings over the next few days.

Iraq has gone so well, we sent a second carrier into the gulf to ratchet up the tension with Iran.

Homes losing value at a pace not seen in two decades and foreclosures rising.

Millions being wasted on a so called virtual fence that doesn't work and, btw, still doesn't solve an immigration/border security issue in this country.

I can go on and on, but it is Rev. Wright and this mindless shit that the media forces down our throats.

Gas Goes Up $.16 By Me

I said in a post earlier today that you can't find gas below $3.50 by me, well that same station tonight is at $3.66 for regular and $3.84 for premium. Sen Obama, do you still love America?

Oil Above $116

Good thing ABC focused on lapel pins, the flag and Rev Wright. It's not like oil is that important anyway. Three minutes at the end of that thing they called a debate was plenty of time to talk about the energy issue. Good luck finding anything under $3.50/gallon for regular anywhere in the suburbs of Chicago.

Friday, February 29

Happy Friday!

Oil still over $100 and ricin was found in a Las Vegas motel.

Wednesday, May 23

Oil Over $70 A Barrel

Perfect time to ratchet up the tension with Iran. $4.00 a gallon will be what we are wishing for when it hits $5.00 a gallon. And in the Chicagoland area, where the price for gas is the highest in the U.S., we are already closing in on $4.00 gas. I'm still waiting on an energy plan, because soon, I won't be able to afford the absence of one.

Exxon Still Can't Cut Ties With Skeptics

While their donations to groups skeptic of climate change went down in 2006, they still gave $2 million to about 40 groups.

(Reuters) Exxon has argued that its position on global warming has been widely misunderstood and has taken part in industry talks on greenhouse gas emission regulations.

"We believe that climate change is a serious issue and that action is warranted now," said Exxon Mobil spokesman Dave Gardner.
Then why fund opposition research?
