Are We Allowing Israel To Spark A Regional Conflict?

I have yet to see anyone from the U.S. really step up and tell Israel to stand down and let diplomacy work. And with the bombing of the airport in Lebanon and rockets fired at Israel in response, will this lead to a larger conflict? Will it bring Syria, Lebanon and Iran into an altercation with Israel, which we would obviously have to defend, thus circumventing the UN, China and Russia?
