Rove Tries Spin On Bush Popularity
Karl Rove said Monday that the Presidents low approval rating is being dragged down by Iraq and not by a dislike for this President. Karl is trying to use the Chris Matthews logic that people really like Bush. As if there isn't enough besides Iraq that could hurt Bush. Hmm, let's see. How about spying, leaking, lack of an energy plan that moves from oil rather than more drilling, immigration, Iran and North Korea just to name a few.
(AP/Yahoo)Rove said that Bush's likeability ratings are far higher than his approval ratings. "There is a disconnect" because of the Iraq conflict, Rove told the American Enterprise Institute. That economy that Rove is bragging about is beginning to slow. And now they are beginning to break out their greatest hits. Gay marriage is back in the news. The National Guard is now on the borders and I guarantee in the next couple months they will start with the terror alerts. All that is left is for someone in a hospital for Frist to diagnose from the Senate floor.
"I think the war looms over everything. There's no doubt about it," Rove said during a question-and-answer session after a speech on the economy at the conservative think tank.
On the economy, Rove credited the president's fiscal policies, particularly a series of first-term tax cuts, for a recovery that has gone on since late 2001. "The reality is, the tax cuts have helped make the U.S. economy the strongest in the world," Rove said.
