Iran Nuclear Capabilities Unknown
The Bloomberg article that created some controversy when it said Iran could have the bomb in 16 days. Has been updated twice now. First Stephen Rademaker, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for International Security and Nonproliferation, says with 50,000 centrifuges Iran could make a bomb in 16 days. Than he says this.
(Bloomberg)Iran has informed the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency that it plans to construct 3,000 centrifuges at Natanz next year, Rademaker said.So which is it? Scare us initially for the November elections and save the 2 year estimate for the presidential election, or just keep throwing things out there like they did for Iraq and hope something sticks?
``We calculate that a 3,000-machine cascade could produce enough uranium to build a nuclear weapon within 271 days,'' he said.
