Another Reason For Feingold

One of the problems that Sen. Kerry had in 2004 was that he voted for some of the key issues he wanted to attack Bush on. A lot of people didn't trust him, or at the very least, didn't know where he really stood on issues.

Today it started going that way again with some of the possible candidates for Dems in 2006 and 2008. Today the RNC responded to Howard Dean's comments on the biolabs. It's not so much the comments directed at Dean, rather some of the comments they had from Clinton, Kerry and Dean

Howard Dean: "Everything the President says about Saddam Hussein is true. He's evil. He's a liar. He gases his own people." (ABC's "This Week," 12/22/02)

-- Dean: "'I would be surprised if (Saddam Hussein) didn't have' chemical and biological weapons." (Mort Kondracke, "Is Howard Dean For Real? Well, Not Entirely," Roll Call, 1/27/03)

-- Dean: "I believe that Iraq does have chemical and biological weapons, and they are a threat to many nations in the region, but not to the United States." (PBS' "Newshour," 2/25/03)

-- Dean: "There's no question that Saddam Hussein is a threat to the United States and to our allies. The question is, is he an immediate threat?" (CBS' "Face The Nation," 9/29/02)

Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) Has Even Attacked Howard Dean On His WMD Flip Flop. KERRY: "The fact is ... Howard Dean said he thought there were weapons of mass destruction there. ... It's very easy to be outside of Washington and not have to vote." (CNBC's "Capital Report," 10/17/03)

Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY): "In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al-Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons." (Sen. Hillary Clinton, Congressional Record, 10/10/02, p. S10288)
What I am pleased about is the fact that they don't have quotes from Sen. Feingold. Oh yeah, he voted against the war and didn't fall victim to the "Uber Patriotic" crowd that shamed the other Democrats into becoming Republicans. In essence, those Dems were complicit with Bush and the Republicans for the first two and half to three years of Bush's crusade.
