Bangor Makes It Illegal To Smoke In Cars.....
That is if you have a child(anyone under 18) in the car with you. I understand banning smoking in public places, and as a smoker who is trying to quit, I understand the dangers of smoking. But at what point do our "leaders", and I use that term loosely, overstep their powers?
Again, I am not defending smoking in close proximity of a child, but this seems to be a waste of time and money. Those who say that our health care would be cheaper if people didn't smoke, will have any of those costs offset by the costs of law enforcement and legal fees to prosecute someone who lights up a Parliament. Not to mention that law enforcement now has to watch for one more thing that distracts from fighting REAL crimes.
So our leaders will continue to pander to the anti-smoking crowd, much in the way they pander to the anti-drug crowd, using law enforcement to solve the issues of the day, while setting more precedent for our rights being trampled. And in the end, just taking us one step closer to being what our troops are fighting against in the Middle East.
