Politics of Terror

Back in August when British authorities "thwarted" a terror plot to blow up planes flying from Europe to the U.S., some questioned whether the arrest was political or not. According to reports in August, the U.S. pushed to have the suspects arrested over objections by the British. It was said that the British wanted to continue their surveillance to get more intel. Now we are finding out that suspected terrorists escaped because of the rush to make an arrest by the U.S. government.

(The Independent)As a direct result of the surprise detention of the suspect, British police and MI5 were forced to rush forward plans to arrest an alleged UK gang accused of plotting to destroy the airliners. But a second group of suspected terrorists allegedly linked to the first evaded capture and is still at large, according to security sources.
Some in August even wondered if this group was the threat they were made out to be.
