Anyone But Dems?

This is one of those things that stinks of hypocrisy. Almost in the way it smelled when the President said he has never been stay the course. For the last six years, many people have complained that the Dems were just anti-Bush, or anyone but Bush. Yet in the last few weeks, and more so the last few days, it seems the play called from the Rovian playbook is "Anyone but Dems".

And now they have jumped on Sen. Kerry on his remarks about the troops. For the record, Sen. Kerry is right. He is not saying all the troops are uneducated or dumb, contrary to Tony Snow and his simplistic logic. Rather he is saying that if you get educated, you have more choices in life. And I am sure, statistically speaking, that the average income of people entering the military is below the national average.

But according to district records, recruiters seem to go more often to schools where large numbers of students qualify for free or reduced lunches because of family income. For example, Felix Varela Senior High had 176 visits and Southridge had 123 from recruiters in 2004-05, according to the latest district records.

Yet at Coral Reef, an all-magnet senior high located between those schools, recruiters made 20 visits that year.

DIFFERENT TREND

District records also show another trend. Over the last five years, schools such as Central, which is in a lower-income area, saw twice as many military recruiters as college recruiters.
Sen. Kerry is guilty of having bad taste with his comments, but the facts stand for themselves, and no one seems to arguing those. Yet what we hear is Kerry is against the troops, Nancy Pelosi can't protect you and the Dems want to raise your taxes.

Meanwhile the war in Iraq has been a failure. Afghanistan has been a failure. Real immigration reform has been a failure. The Dow is doing better, but not so much NASDAQ. More jobs have been created, but more people are working more than one job because they pay less. Energy costs, up until a month ago(ironic?), were at all time highs. But it's the Dems who you should fear.
