U.S. Prosecutors Arrest BetOnSports CEO
In files that were unsealed Monday, federal prosecutors indicted David Carruthers of BetOnSports.com. Mr. Carruthers was arrested while on a layover in Dallas on Sunday. This following last weeks house bill that bans all, some, forms of online wagering.
(NY Times)Also at the hearing, the court granted the governments request for a temporary restraining order preventing BetOnSports from accepting wagers from customers in the United States and requiring it to return money held in the accounts of American customers.It's funny how Republicans make you think they want smaller government, yet time after time they try to regulate our morality. Regulations on big business to not pollute or treat employees wrong or regulations on what, where and when you do what you do and how and why you do it? Which big government do you prefer?
In addition to Mr. Carruthers, the government filed charges against 10 other people involved with BetOnSports and with three Florida marketing companies that prosecutors say were involved in promoting illegal gambling.
