Japan Will Impose Sanctions On North Korea
Japan is the first to say they will impose sanctions on North Korea. Later today there will be a closed door meeting at the U.N. to discuss actions to be taken against North Korea.
(Bloomberg) North Korea's Mangyongbong 92 ferry, which runs between Wonsan and Niigata, Japan and is the main communications link between the countries, was stopped this morning from entering its port of call in northern Japan. The ship will be banned for six months from today, Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's office said.
``We will consider every type of sanctions possible,'' Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe said at a press conference in Tokyo today after attending a security meeting at Koizumi's office. ``The international community should strictly condemn the North Korean missile launches.''
