Patrick Kennedy To Enter Rehab

Patrick Kennedy, who was involved in an accident early this morning, has announced that he is entering rehab to address his addiction to pain killers. This wouldn't be the first time for Kennedy, who has spent time at the Mayo Clinic before.

(Seattle Times)Kennedy, who has struggled with addiction and depression, said he had checked into the Mayo Clinic over the Christmas holidays and returned to Congress "reinvigorated and healthy."

"Of course, in every recovery, each day has its ups and downs, but I have been strong, focused and productive since my return," Kennedy said.

Whether you like or dislike Kennedy or Limbaugh, you can only hope that they can get this part of their lives under control. Make no mistake, there are millions of people in America who are in the same position as both of these guys, and anyone who thinks jail is the way to correct an addiction doesn't know anything about addiction.

I heard everybody saying how sweet of a deal that Rush got. It's only cause he is famous. Rush should go to jail. In his defense, which you may never hear me say again, he didn't hurt anyone but himself. Democrats should be for getting help for addicts, we should all be for getting help for addicts, so why did Democrats blast Rush and his verdict?

Obviously there is some irony in Rush, who often talks negatively about drug users, getting arrested for drugs. Make fun of him for that, not for getting help and not going to jail. Otherwise when the right says we are weak on crime and they can point to something like this and say we are also hypocrites for blasting Rush and not Kennedy.
