Bush Administration Doesn't Know Diplomacy
I remember during the run up to Iraq, it never seemed like anything Iraq or it's leaders did was good enough to prevent an invasion. Now it seems like we are doing the same thing with Iran. Why does our diplomacy only contain the stick? Don't we ever give a carrot?
(AP/Yahoo)"This letter is not the place that one would find an opening to engage on the nuclear issue or anything of the sort," the top U.S. diplomat said in an interview with The Associated Press. "It isn't addressing the issues that we're dealing with in a concrete way."The letter that Rice is referring about is only the first time in 27 years that Iran and the United States had any formal or official communications. Was it the answer to everything, no, but does it mean we just brush it off and act so matter of fact? What negotiations begin with either side giving their best offer. Some might say that is what Rice is doing, maybe, but it seems like if Rice really wanted to help they would be doing this in private. Instead Rice uses the press to make fun of the "Opening" gesture to negotiations.
If you keep threatening people and never listen to anyone, how can there be any diplomacy? I know, we can get the USDA on the job!
