Beware Of Free Heroin

Much like grocery stores pass out free samples of food, drug dealers in Chicago "pass out" free samples of heroin.

(Chicago Tribune)Local residents said "pass outs" are common. Drug dealers distribute free samples, telling potential customers that if they like the drug, they can buy more. Residents said drug users come from other areas to buy drugs in the neighborhood.

Unfortunately, the last week has seen a rush of people being sent to the hospital from this heroin.

Seven people collapsed Friday afternoon on the West Side after what police and fire officials said appeared to be overdoses from bad heroin passed out for free by a drug dealer.

The seven adults were taken to hospitals shortly after noon and were in good condition later in the day, Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said.
