France Takes Away Workers Rights

The French government is trying to pass employment contracts. In this contract companies of 20 or more employees can fire any employee 26 or younger at any time during the first two years of employment without justification. The CPE will also take away any type of appeal or redress by the employee to get his or her job back. Needless to say the youth in France is not taking this sitting down..

PARIS (AFP) - Groups of students faced off with riot police in sporadic incidents across France, as more than 150,000 marched in a show of force against the government over a contested youth jobs contract.

Those in favor of this law say it will help unemployment in the youth sector in france

Companies, according to the government and its big business supporters, will be more willing to take on workers if they can fire them at will.
